Gardening Warrington

UPDATE July 2023: The 2023 season after a slowish start has been memorably busy especially during the hot and dry spell of May and June! Several projects that I did for customers in the early part of the season are now coming to an end so I am now able to take on new customers for the remainder of the season. Prospective new customers are invited to get in touch. This website should give you a good idea of what I do and whether I'm the right gardener for you.  Andy.

UPDATE July/August 2023. I'n now posting more regular Blog Articles in the 'Articles' section of this website and my Facebook page. These should give a good idea of the kind of work I do and my approach to horticulture.

I have been a keen amateur gardener for over 20 years, mainly working with perennials, veg. production, ground cultivation, building garden structures and weeding. In 2018 I decided to become a professional gardener so enrolled on the RHS Level 2 Diploma in the Principles and Practises of Horticulture at Reaseheath College. In May 2020, at the height of the Covid Pandemic is set up my small business Gardening Warrington.

Here is a list of the main services I provide in customers' gardens:

  • Weeding, and lots of it usually! Where possible I 'hand' weed' or use Cultural Controls like mulching or landscape fabric

  • For some particularly tenacious weeds (e.g. Mares' Tail) I use chemical control. This is ONLY done after agreement with the customer.

  • Horticulturally-correct pruning of small trees (up to around 20 feet) and shrubs. All pruning is dome with reference to RHS guidelines and industry 'best practise'.

  • Lawn care, including mowing, scarifying, aeration and control of Moss and common lawn weeds.

  • Selection and planting of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants when requested by customers. This is done after careful research to find plants suited to the aerial and root environments in the garden.

  • I am qualified to apply Plant Protection Products (Herbicides, Pesticides and Fungicides) safely and in accordance with regulations. I hold the necessary qualifications NPTC PA1 and PA6.

  • I am licensed to remove small quantities of green waste. This is often appreciated by customers when their green bin is full! Due to the size of my vehicle I am unable to remove larger quantities.

  • Work is charged at a fixed, hourly rate agreed with the customer when I start work with them. The rate will hold for the duration of the gardening season though my be reviewed at the start of the following season.

Here is a list of the kind of work I DON'T DO. Please look elsewhere is these are you requirements:-

  • Landscape gardening (ie large areas of 'hard landscaping')

  • 'Garden Clearences'

  • Long stretches of fencing.

  • Please note I don't do ANY work requiring an up-front quotation.

I aim to deliver a quality garden services consistent with good horticultural practise.

I intend to provide reliable, trustworthy, value-for-money professional services.

Gardening Warrington has appropriate professional insurance and is a member of the 'Gardeners' Guild', the trade body for professional gardeners.

Regards, Andy.
